The introduction gives you an overview of this course.

Module 1 : The Context for Agile Leadership

In this module we will dive deep into the context for Agile Leadership. You will learn about the need for rapid innovation, the various types of innovation, and a brief history of management.

In addition, we will cover what agility means and how it is different from traditional ways of working.

This module contains several cases studies incl. Tesla, Apple, Haier, and Amazon.

As with all other modules, there will be some exercises, assignments, and further readings to dive deeper into the various topics. Enjoy!

Module 2 : Agile Leadership

In this module we will dive into what Agile Leadership is and how your journey towards Agile Leadership can look like.

We start out with an exercise to explore the Leadership Agility Model from Bill Joiner & Steven Josephs. This exercise gives you a good understanding of the three leadership types: Expert, Achiever, and Catalyst.

Next, you will connect these leadership types to the Amazon Leadership Principles and Behaviors of Great Managers at Google.

Once we have established a good understand about the “What” of Agile Leadership, we will dive deeper into the “How” of getting there.

We will share helpful tools and techniques such as conversation techniques, rules of engagement with your teams, and structuring 1-on-1 meetings.

As with all other modules, there will be some exercises, assignments, and further readings to dive deeper into the various topics. Enjoy!

Module 3 : Leading Agile Teams

In this module we will learn how to be an effective leader of one or several teams. We will do this by teaching you the practical application of a number of tools.

We start with the definition of a team and then move to the key characteristics of Agile Teams i.e. cross-functionality and self-organization.

Once that is clear, we will share several models e.g. Hackman, Tuckman, and Lencioni to help you build a toolbox from which you can choose whenever you are facing various team challenges.

As with all other modules, there will be some exercises, assignments, and further readings to dive deeper into the various topics. Enjoy!

Module 4: Leading Agile Organizations

In this module we will share our experience in how to create more agile organizations.

Similar to module 2, where we started by getting a better sense of what Agile Leadership is before moving to the how, we will start here by exploring company cultures before addressing the topics of change and transformation.

In order to explore culture, we will use two tools: The Culture Map from Strategyzer and the Competing Values Framework from Cameron & Quinn.

Next, we will cover the levers one can use to change a company’s culture and the process of transformation and change can be setup based on decades of research.

This module, includes two major case studies: Amazon and Netflix.

Sohrab is the Founder & CEO of Scrum Academy in Cologne, Germany. He has taught close to 10.000 students in Scrum and Agile Leadership over the past decade. He is an accomplished Certified Scrum Trainer┬« and Approved Certified Agile Leadership┬« Educator by the Scrum Alliance, where he also served the past 3 years as a member of the Board of Directors.

Sohrab has never been and will never be the typical agilist. His thinking and teaching has been inspired and shaped by his immigrant background, his studies as a medical doctor, his consulting work at Bain & Company, and his experience as a serial entrepreneur and angel investor. He is the only Certified Scrum Trainer® with a medical degree and who has been accredited as a Strategyzer Coach by Alexander Osterwalder and his company.

Over the past 15 years, Sohrab has worked with large and small organizations all over the world and in various industries primarily in Pharma, Medtech, Automotive, IT, Telco, and Financial Services. This enables him to provide a wide range of examples in the work he does with all his clients.
